| SuperVariTemp Inserts Variable Temperature Inserts are available for direct mounting to your storage dewar. These sample in vapor Variable Temperature Inserts (VTIs) are economical and easy to use. They fit into standard storage dewars with 2 inch diameter necks and provide variable temperatures from <1.5 to 300K.
Customization is not a problem! The VTI insert length and style of quick
connect adapter for storage dewar attachment can be altered to fit your
research needs.
Samples are cooled by insertion into flowing helium gas exiting from the vaporizer. The samples are top loading and can be quickly changed while operating. Liquid helium flows from the reservoir through the adjustable flow valve to the vaporizer located at the bottom of the sample tube. Applying heat vaporizes the liquid and raises the gas temperature. This gas enters the sample zone to cool the sample to your selected temperature. The temperature of the sample can be varied from typically 1.5K to room temperature. Temperature from 4.2K to room temperature can be set simply by adjusting the electrical current supplied to the heater that is mounted in the vaporizer. Operation can be automated with an electronic temperature controller. Pumping on the sample zone will provide temperatures down to 1.5K. The system uses enthalpy of the helium vapor which results in very high power handling, fast temperature change, ultra stable temperatures, and ease of use. These super variable temperature inserts are efficient with negligible static liquid helium consumption and a typical operational flow rate of less than 0.125 l/hr.
